A Breath of Trees

Emily Rosen has gone missing. Following the deadly confrontation with elephant poachers in Tanzania and the death of her father, Rosen cascades into severe PTSD. Drawn by haunting visions of a jaguar, she leaves the Gaia Team and travels deep into the Amazon forest. She is befriended by members of an indigenous tribe and meets a solitary shaman who teaches her the ways of the forest. A rogue mining operation has invaded the tribe's lands, terrorizing the villagers while desecrating the surrounding rivers and forests. Rosen is propelled into a nightmare world of greedy miners who will stop at nothing to pull gold from the ground. When Rosen fails to check in, Jake Spinner and the Gaia Team mount a rescue effort. This intrepid team discovers that the trail of corruption leads all the way to the former administration in Brasilia and as far north as the United States Senate. The stakes couldn't be higher.
