This child-friendly fictional story has been written and illustrated to inform and educate children from the age of 4-11 years of age, who feel that they are different from the majority of their peers. It gives them the opportunity at the end of the book to creatively colour in their frame and write their own positive words about themselves. The book also gives children in the majority the opportunity to understand that treating others unkindly because of their difference can have a deep effect on their self-esteem and unhappiness. Issues of respect, equality, diversity and the celebration of difference are positively reinforced throughout the book, together with the message that we are all different, but we are all EQUAL and SPECIAL.
