Mustangs, eagles, and high schoolers find freedom in wild Wyoming. Aaron "Heron" Sorenson is a first-year student at SHIWA: The School of Human Interaction with Animals. This is a summer school course that blends outdoor education with inner exploration. The WYLD novel series is a coming-of-age story about two timeless and universal struggles: survival in nature and survival in adolescence. WYLD is an amalgamation of experiences available to outdoor enthusiasts in Wyoming''s Rocky Mountain backcountry. Scenes recall Yellowstone and the Teton Range. The natural wonders also include the Wind River Range, Shoshone Forest, and Sinks Canyon, sitting 6 miles southwest of the author''s hometown of Lander.
