With the Arabs in history and legend

There are many stories from history, and many Arab myths from which a writer can make use of them today as living material for a literary work. The author says, "It is enough for me, reader, that you sit at this small book at intervals, so that a piece of it takes only a little of your time, and you get out of it." I have achieved - I hope - some reward in the form of artistic pleasure, lesson, or intellectual benefit, and I think that after this we agree that the history of the Arabs and its myths is one of the most enjoyable things to indulge in. Mind, we need to know this history and these myths - even if only in a quick anecdotal way - so that we can meet all of this with the love and admiration it deserves."
