The ancient Egyptians had fine literature and wonderful literary traces, which they left on papyrus papers and other things, and we have a large repertoire of that, which modern scholars have dealt with through translation, explanation, and commentary. There is the literature of the story, which we find in that abundant number of stories, and in some of them a well-traveled hero talks about his dangers, such as the story of the drowned sailor, and the dangers he was exposed to on the mythical island of snakes. The story of "Sinuha," which became famous, describes his escape from the country and his spending years among Syrian Bedouin men, and the favor he gained there with their leader, who married him to his eldest daughter and gave him a piece of land, one of his best possessions. When old age overtook him, he wrote a petition to the king to allow him to return to Egypt, and his wish was fulfilled and he returned to it in honor.
