Bishop Peter des Roches was one of the most important and controversial figures in the political history of 13th-century England. A large number of administrative writs relating to his role at court are included in this collection of over 340 documents. The editor's introduction (supplemented by an appendix detailing the lives of more than 40 individuals) provides a picture of the Bishop's household and his contacts at court, shedding light on the influence of foreigners in the reigns of Kings John and Henry III.
