A wealthy family is haunted by a deadly curse in this classic thriller from the Golden Age of Detective Fiction. David Lee expects a happy reunion and a fun, relaxing getaway when his college roommate, Dick Thistlestane, invites him to his family's estate in southern New Jersey. Instead, Lee finds a house gripped by tension and filled with strange characters. Lee has only heard rumors of the Thistlestane family curse. Several of Dick's relatives have met violent deaths. Dick fears the same fate for him and his sister, Jane. After a shrill cry in the night sets off a commotion in the house, Dick is certain someone is out to get him.
