Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. This handbook is intended for the use Of young beginners in their elementary practice with watchwork. The technical terms will be useful for reference to many who are Older hands the technology Of the horological art having been somewhat neglected till quite recently. The early chapters embrace information on the repair and adjustment of watchwork which I wrote for the guidance of young beginners, and published intermittingly in a periodical. Several readers urged that this matter should be reproduced in book-form, and assured me that it would benefit a wide circle of young jobbers and have a large sale. The Glossary of Terms used in Watchwork, which forms a large portion of this book, was prepared several years ago, and forms part of what was intended to be a comprehensive treatise on Practical Horology.
