Wace et l''église, les princes de la foi
Clerc lisant, from Bayeux Cathedral, Wace is naturally in the service of his Duke and King Henri II Plantagenet. He was born in Jersey, one of these islands that is so rightly named Channel islands, and was charged by his lord to write the story, the legend of the new kingdom and to forge the links that would make England and Normandy the same land. Wace is the man of joining, synthesis, of a certain vision of the history too, where the divine Providence has its part to play. In the service of princes, he cannot ignore God and the Church, and it is also for them that he writes his story. Gathered in Bayeux, the best specialists of Wace, Anglo-Norman history and literature of the thirteenth century shared their knowledge, gathered in this volume.
