Vegetable cultivation is an integral part of agriculture system, which associates the farming community to economy and global trading opportunities. India has achieved tremendous progress in the area of vegetable production, which has been possible mainly due to development of high yielding and disease resistant varieties/hybrids. But majority of the vegetable growers are unaware about the improved varieties/hybrids. This book Vegetable Varieties of India provides the descript ion of all the varieties/hybrids, which have been notified from Central Variety Release Committee (CVRC) or identified from All India Coordinated Research Project on Vegetable Crops (AICRP-VC) for cultivation in different agro-ecological regions of India. For better understanding of a crop, in addition to the vernacular and botanical names, a brief introduction has also been given, which will provide necessary background to the readers. In addition, a list of all the varieties/hybrids notified from CVRC or identified from AICRP-VC and breeders' seed production data of last 5 years has also been provided.
