Understanding Pregnancy Loss

Stillbirth, miscarriage and termination of pregnancy are emotionally laden experiences, providing particular challenges for health professionals.
Based on original research, this book provides insight into subjective experience and professional response. It grows out of in-depth interviews with women and with the full range of health professionals who were significant in their care. These experiences are drawn upon to explore the dilemmas in providing good care, and to suggest ways in which practice might be improved.
