In the world of Alard, every human is born with Reiki - a living energy that can be trained into incredible strength. But only a rare few ever awaken its true power, and those few shaped history.

A century ago, the monster known as the Mutotsu was sealed away by Ujitaka Toukan, but not before it released four glass plates that can break the seal and bring it back. Now the seal is weakening, and twisted beings called Mutahawls-humans transformed by Dark Reiki-are spreading through the land, hunting the plates to revive the creature.
