Tian Gong Kai Wu

At the end of the Ming Dynasty, Song Yingxing''s book Tian Gong Kai Wu is an important encyclopedia of agriculture and handicraft technology in the history of science and technology in our country and the world. It has three volumes and eighteen chapters, covering more than 30 industries such as machinery, bricks and tiles, ceramics, sulfur, candles, paper, weapons, gunpowder, textiles, dyeing, salt making, coal mining, oil extraction, etc, with more than 130 production technologies, 122 illustrations. No matter the operating technique or the tool itself, Song Yingxing tried to use numbers as accurately as possible to describe it. This time we invite Professor Yang Weizeng from Sun Yat-sen University to revise the Research on the New Annotation of Tian Gong Kai Wu (Jiangxi Science and Technology Press, 1987) edited by him, and include it in the "e;Chinese Classics Full Annotation and Full Translation Series"e; for publication, so as to help ordinary readers to better read and understand this ancient scientific and technological masterpiece. This book not only annotates the words in detail, but also uses modern science to explain the technical principles in detail, so that readers can feel the wisdom of ancient people.
