Thrust Upon Us

We didn't ask for war, it was thrust upon us. First contact didn't go as well as Lt. Jack Ryder imagined. Putting a bullet in critters that ugly seemed the way it should have went, but General Isaac Cromwell had other ideas. Jack came to realize his commander was in charge for a reason. When it came to tactics, the man was brilliant. Jack... not so much. So it came as quite a surprise when Jack was given this assignment, human liason to this new alien species. It certainly wasn't because he was perfect, indeed, far from it. The general felt Qel, the alien paired with Jack, would learn more from us with someone as flawed as the lieutenant. As a partner, Qel was great. Eventually, together, they'd face something far worse than ugly. Just how ugly only time would tell.
