A series of bizarre, lewd messages left on the voicemails of private residences leads a Monterey county sheriff to an assignment with an agent for the Homeland Security Authority because . . . the technology that the messages uses doesn't yet exist.Similar phone incidents follow - this time involving holographic images of dead murder victims projected into innocent people's living rooms. The two investigators begin to suspect the work of a mysterious, and now defunct, San Francisco start-up, but before they can follow up their leads, yet another, more troubling series of incidents is reported - now suggesting that someone is using subliminal suggestion to influence governmental policy in the State Legislature and the Governor's Office.
