How harmful could yoga be for children; a form of innocent exercise, right? For author Jennifer Sedlock, and other parents whose children were in Encinitas School District in California, deceptions in yoga were beyond physical and into spiritual. Her new book, The Yoga Crisis in America, highlights before, during and after the trial against the EUSD on allowing yoga in public schools. Part of the concerned parents group at school, Jennifer was shocked to learn the damaging effects to come with yoga replacing PE: less physical activity, Hindu religious exercises and even inappropriate exercises for young children. Jennifer chronicles the trial events through trial transcripts, while also sharing the personal side of the trial in parents enduring judgment from the Jois Yoga program with EUSD, proyoga activists and even parents who didn't see the deceptions of yoga. It all accumulates to one question: is yoga just exercise or pagan worship?
