The Wealth of A Nation

Is liberty an illusion, especially now that the nation's jobs are gone? The average Joe and Jane have long been tamed by government allotments and are told that they are privileged. But they enjoy neither the dignity of work nor the standard of living earned by Workers. Their deep restlessness finally erupts into violence. It is there, at the protest, that Nathan Englander is thrust into the spotlight for his courage. Na ve, but principled, he rails against the divisive barrier and questions the social hierarchy, becoming a target of the political machine . . . a power formed long ago by Machiavellian elites.

REVIEWS:
* (Kirkus Reviews) "Comparisons to Brave New World (complete with a popular soma like pacification drug) would not be far off the mark, which is high praise. . . . . The Wall element, a tool of repression disguised as a solution, is well-timed for the era" . . . .
*(Dan Barnett, BiblioFile) "The complex and immersive thriller showcases O'Neill's world-building talents and provides an unsettling answer to the question: "What is freedom worth?" Writer T.B. O'Neill creates a chilling dystopian society uncomfortably similar to our own."
* (Kirdus Reviews) "Dystopian political sci-fi with a disturbingly persuasive edge." (Kirkus Reviews)
