The Tribe of Christ

What moved Abraham to open his home to his young, self-absorbed nephew, Lot, and later to wage war against a powerful alliance of kings to rescue his young charge? What moved Boaz, a near kinsman of Ruth, to marry her, to lift her up out of poverty? What moved Jesus to empty himself of the nature of God and to take upon himself the nature of man-indeed, the nature of a servant-to surrender his life on the cross to redeem humankind? What moved them was a sense of allegiance. A sense of family. A sense of tribe.
