The Story of Pollination, first published in 1961, is a classic introduction to plant pollination, the process whereby pollen is transferred to a plant's female organs, part of the process of fertilization. Written in a semi-popular style, author Bastiaan Meeuse (1916-1999), a botany professor at the University of Washington, explores and explains in clear language the often fantastic world of how plants attract pollinators, and their relationships with the many types of insects and other animals that are part of the process. Well-illustrated with detailed line drawings by Hilda Kern and b/w photographs.
