The Rarámuri people

The Sierra Tarahumara holds one of Mexico's most profound living legacies: the Rar muri people. This paper reveals their history, spirituality and wisdom, through a journey from their archaeological roots to their presence in the city. Pushed by poverty, violence, lack of opportunities and environmental crisis. In these urban environments, the Rar muri face discrimination, job insecurity, limited access to health services, food transition, loss of symbolic territory and profound cultural transformations. Even so, their identity resists: their festivals, their language, their way of life and their spirituality find new forms of expression in the midst of the asphalt.
