The Proud and the Lonely

The year is 1751. In The Proud and the Lonely, an indentured servant who recently arrived in the New World is accused of murdering a wealthy landowner and flees westward ahead of a mob. Lost in the mountains of Western Carolina and pursued by his enemies, he must survive against disease, hostile Indians, and unfamiliar wilderness. On his journey, he will find friends and the love of a Cherokee woman who will help him discover the truth that will change his life forever.
