The Prayer of Saint Ephrem

Ephrem the Syrian - is one of the greatest teachers of the church of the IV century, the Christian theologian and poet who was born on the city of Nisibis. Being a young man he went to the mountains nearby and became the hermit. When the Nisibis was conquered by the Persians in 353, the saint left the places of his hermit life and settled in the monastery near the city of Edessa where he stayed till his death (nearly 373-379). The saint Ephrem the Syrian combined together with the selfless works the unstoppable learning of the God''s word, receiving the wisdom and tender emotion for his soul in it.
