The Politics of Civil Society Building

How to understand the process of incipient democratization in societies without democratic traditions, in which civil society was highly exclusive and external forces extremely dominant? This is the first empirical analysis of private aid impact in Central America, as well as the first effort to provide a theoretical understanding of the politics of civil society building with external aid resources.
