The Patch of Green

In this gritty story Greg Garrity and his two best friends, Billy Smith and Will Striker, are growing up during the last half of the 20th century in Rogers Park, an eclectic working-class neighborhood on the northeast side of Chicago. One day, while on an ill-advised adventure, Billy and Will save Greg's life creating, in Greg's mind, a great debt that he feels he must repay his two friends.As the friends reach adulthood, their lives move in very different directions with various levels of success, failure, and misery mixed in.
