The narrator, the narratee, and the reader - studies in communication and narrative

Paul Auster says in an interview with Le Monde newspaper: "In my life, there is a great separation between me and the person who writes books. In my life I know almost what I am doing, but when I write I feel completely lost and I do not know where these stories come from." This indicates the emergence of literary works from the deep, unconscious ego of the writer, and the clear difference between the everyday ego and the creative one. The book discusses ideas about the narrator''s voice, identification with the reader, and forms of communication with him, as well as the dual identity of the narrator and his narratee through the works of international writers. The translation of these studies records an important practical addition in understanding and analyzing the narrative structure of literary works based on the methodological concepts in communication between the narrative level and the extra-narrative level represented by the narrator, the narratee, and the reader.
