When a young woman is found ritualistically posed in a disused Ayrshire quarry, DCI Lomond is drawn into a chilling investigation that uncovers a hidden world of drugs, missing children, and long-buried secrets.  As the body count rises, Lomond begins to suspect a serial killer has stalked Scotland’s Central Belt for decades - a predator linked to a dark local murder ballad whispered about for generations.  Defying orders from above, Lomond must unravel the truth behind the myth before the killer claims another victim.
