The war had ended and our lives would change in very subtle ways forever. Our little town of Runge, Texas, rejoiced with the soldiers coming back and grieved with the families that had lost their loved ones. But somehow things were different. Our country had come together and deep in our hearts we sensed that this was a good thing. Our country had a renewed hope of being one nation under God. The seed was planted and over many years that followed, the seed was nurtured by mighty men of courage that believed that we are one.
