There is a strategic, operational, and tactical necessity for the Marine Corps to possess the required capabilities tooperate the mountainous operational environment. As a major subordinate element of the MAGTF, the ACE, specificallythe helicopter and tilt rotor assets of the assault support community, must develop and maintain resident competenciesto conduct helicopter-borne operations in the mountainous operational environment.
