The Lion's Cub

That was the message Arkenthan received when he tried to join the army. He'd been tracking his father's caravan for several days, and the message annoyed him. His father, a renowned blacksmith, had been called up by the army, and Arkenthan was determined to join him.

When neither his father nor the army want him anywhere near the fights, Arkenthan moves into a strange forest to hone his skills. A cabin beneath a lonely mountain provides shelter, but the surrounding forest is full of unnatural sounds and occurences. In a hidden room beneath the cabin he also finds the book. This is the first book of "The Lion's Path" series by the new Norwegian author, Fredrik B. Lunde. The book takes the reader through two stories. One of the stories is shrouded in mystery. The other story turns to the more classical "the good vs the evil" where a couple of people have to wander the world in order to learn skills such as fighting and magic in order to defeat the enemy.
