The Guardians and a Date with Time

When Marina, a 19-year-old college freshman, tries to protect a wedding dress in a bridal shop from a raging tornado, something bizarre happens that transports her to alternate worlds of mystery. There, she meets two men. One is somewhere between a snake charmer and a snake oil salesman. The other is knowledgeable, kind and helpful, having a strong arm to literally lean on and -- well, worth a second look. Which one will she fall for, or perhaps neither. The only thing she can claim from these islands in time is a pocket watch, which she tries to protect from an evil force. Why does she go to these alternate worlds? What is her purpose there and her purpose in the present world?
