The Club-Fighters of the Amazon

The Club-Fighters of the Amazon is an ethnographic study of the Kayapo Indians of the central Brazilian Amazon. Departing from a detailed presentation of their history in the 20th century, Gustaaf Verswijver presents an ethnographically rich and theoretically nuanced picture of Kayapo society, distinguishing between different types of warfare and describing the processes of change and continuity after the cessation of raids.
