The Challenge for World Electric Vehicle Competition

The global automotive industry is currently undergoing a once-in-a-century transformation: the shift from internal combustion engines to electric vehicles (EVs). While the EU has mandated EV adoption by 2035, the global automotive industry views this direction as inevitable in the medium to long term. This aligns with the direction set by the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This book examines how the global automotive industry is responding to this transformation, focusing in detail on the case of Germany's Volkswagen (VW), which has steered its strategy toward electrification. It also covers Tesla in the US and BYD (Build Your Dreams) in China, leaders in EV development, as well as Toyota, which is playing catch-up.
