The Animals' World

The welfare of our environment is a concern shared by children and adults. However, environmental education is the responsibility of adults and the earlier we begin to discuss these important issues with our children, the better the world our children will have to grow up and live in.

The Animals' World is meant for relaxed moments of reading and discussion between children and adults or to be enjoyed alone.

The poems tell about the animals with whom we share this land and world. They ask questions... from why butterflies might start an environmental club to what ringed seals think of lakes with no ice or what the polar bear's position might be on climate change. What do frogs think of ponds grown over with plant life?

The fact sections accompanying each poem also offer all sorts of information about the animals that appear in the book.

The poems also have a zany side: What kind of cook would a black-headed gull make? What would a horse be doing in a pear tree? Why did the squirrel eat her drapes?
