The Age of Mackenzie King

Between December 1921 and November 1948, excepting chiefly 1930 through 1935, William Lyon Mackenzie King (1874-1950) was prime minister of Canada for nearly 22 years: a record for longevity in office which still stands. This book continues and completes his official biography, left unfinished in 1976 when King's literary executors suspended work on it. The official biography under their direction concluded with the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, thus omitting King's wartime leadership, his final three years as prime minister, his retirement from politics and his death.
