Life in a small ex-mining community seems so calm and unassuming. But to Daisy Fields and the villagers of Penbodlen it was perfectly lovely thank you very much. Who wouldn't want to be surrounded by stunning scenery in a community that sticks together through thick and thin?

But for Daisy, things were about to get a lot busier.

Waking up to find a body outside her teashop was not how she expected to start her day. Of course the news spread through the village quicker than you could brew a pot of tea and the man's identity opened old wounds that had been healing since he left the valley in disgrace twenty years earlier.

Daisy could tell DI Locke would do anything to get the case solved from the moment he walked into her kitchen trying to pry a confession out of her with his questions. He and his whole team wanted to get home to their city station and back to civilisation where you can walk past people in the street and not even know their name.

Tom Griffith, Daisy's long-time friend and Penbodlen's police sergeant was devastated when widower Dafydd Jones, known locally as Dafydd Sparks, quickly became DI Locke's main suspect. Having been the lead electrician until the pits closed, Dafydd now preferred to wander the mountains and sleep under the stars. H he was an easy target for the city police, walking into the crime scene holding the murder weapon didn't help his case at all

With Tom unable to step a foot out of line to help his friend it's up to Daisy to search high and low, and even into the depths of the village's past to find the clues to clear Dafydd's name before he gets transferred to the city.

Time is against her, can Daisy find the real killler?
