Tales Told from the Kitchen Table: Story Cartoons and Children's Stories

Poet Mary Zettelman Greer has drawn an array of comics for grandchildren and others for years. Some of her friendly, funny, innocent, and slightly goofy cartoon narratives are collected here--36 pages of heroic adventures with cats, dogs, parakeets, and kids as heroes--and of course, the bad javalina gang and sly coyotes. Adult readers who liked Mad Comics or 1940's and 1950's comic strips will find respite here as well kids. As for the illustrations, the author/illustrator often says, "Well, anyone can draw--sort of." The stories are suitable for all ages, including really old people who liked reading the funny papers back in the day.
