Sutton Coldfield

The ancient Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield has a long and interesting history. From the time of its first mention in Domesday Book there have been several generic histories written on the area but this photographic record of Sutton Coldfield, from the early nineteenth century to the 1950s, is the first ever published collection of photographs relating solely to Sutton Coldfield.

This fascinating collection of 216 photographs drawn from the Sutton Coldfield Local Studies Library includes examples from a wide range of sources, from the nationally famous photographer J. Benjamin Stone to amateur views taken by the person next door.
