This retains many of the first edition's features, with additions reflecting recent advances in the field and the adoption of the Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) method. The work includes: an examination of the LRFD method, including solved problems in each section reflecting its application to all areas of deisgning with wood; consideration of the change in the use of connections since the Allowable Stress Design (ASD) code revisions and the addition of the LRFD code; an abundance of classroom-tested problems; step-by-step explanations of the design calculations for wood and wood composites; and presentation of the nuances of load transfer beyond simple applications of code specified magnitudes.
