Uncounted eons ago human beings colonized many planets throughout the galaxy. Two of these planets were in the same solar system. When it was discovered their sun was dying, the two colonies traveled together to find another suitable planet. The two groups began quarreling during the long journey. The animosity increased with each failed attempt to find a suitable solar system to inhabit. By the time they found Earth and the present day Solar System the two groups were at full-scale war. Some of the survivors from each group continued to live in space while others settled on the planet. As time passed the people who remained on Earth were subjected to many upheavals due to earthquakes, comet and meteorite impacts, and severe weather conditions. The two groups that had remained on Earth went through so many near extinctions they lost most of the culture they had brought with them. They no longer remembered their past history. Some of the people who left Earth to live in space returned recently and discovered the conditions of the ones left behind. Two people were assigned to watch how the colonists react to things they cannot explain. This will help them decide when to make contact with them. WE HAVE MET THE SPACE ALIENS AND THEY ARE US, AND WE ARE THEM.
