Specialist Surfactants

Surfactants are an important group of chemicals, having a wide range of technological, industrial, health and research applications. Recent research into the behaviour of surfactants has led to a greater understanding of the factors which give this class of materials their properties, and has led to the development of a range of novel materials with surfactant properties. This text covers the most important of these specialist surfactants, namely those which are not yet used in the huge quantities typical of traditional surfactants. It highlights the current state of knowledge about this potentially very useful class of compounds. It should be of interest to surface/colloid chemists, industrial/academic researchers, and industrial formulators.
