Special Needs Education in Mathematics

The book reports from recent or on-going research and development in teaching and learning mathematics for pupils with mathematical difficulties in the Nordic countries. Topics discussed are learning environment and social setting, learning communities and teaching approaches, inquiry, and creative learning contrasting traditions of rote and imitative learning. Relations between test anxiety, working memory, and pupils' self-image are discussed as well as inclusion and the right of every student to understand and enjoy mathematics.
