The authors have looked at all aspects of life here, including the parks and the many sports teams, the churches and religious life, and how people lived and worked from day to day. Wartime Belfast is also featured, all the more poignantly now as we approach the centenary of the Great War. Recent decades and developments have brought many changes - some of the old nineteenth-century terraces will be more likely to house businesses than families, and many old landmarks will have disappeared - but this constant change is what makes the record of these times and events all the more important and valuable.
