Chemin faisant, lors de son voyage, il fit la connaissance de Bokra, un riche commer ant qui proposa de lui trouver du travail, une fois Rusti. Arriv Rusti, sur la route de l'avenue bonvieuxtemps, il sauva Thuof - qui deviendra son ami intime - de la main des ravisseurs qui ce dernier devait de l'argent. Un soir, les deux amis furent kidnapp s par les hommes de Ngangaro, chef d'une bande meurtri re qui deviendra plus tard leur patron par la force des choses. Kindi, fille de Ngangaro d veloppa, elle aussi sa propre bande qui combattra celle de son p re; au nom de la haine qu'elle prouvait l' gard de son incestueux de papa. Le commissaire Mbeng est le seul qui r ussit tenir t te aux deux gangs. Soubiane et Thuof tomb rent dans un guet-apens o ils sont accus s et condamn s d'avoir assassin Fung ant, c l bre chef de restaurant de Rusti. la cour criminelle de Rusti, ils sont condamn s la peine capitale de quinze (15) ans d'emprisonnement ferme avec une amende de deux (02) millions. Finalement, Soubiane perdit la vie, fusill , lors d'une tentative d' vasion des prisonniers de la maison d'arr t de Rusti.
