Treasures of Valamo Monastery describes in words and pictures the religious and artistic treasures that the monastery possesses. The emperors of Russia, merchants and other wealthy pilgrims and friends of the monastery have remembered it with all manner of valuable gifts, often in gratitude for intercessions offered up to God on their behalf that they feel have been answered or to accompany requests for intercessions.

The articles in this volume cover a wide variety of topics, including icons, ancient manuscripts, church textiles, sacramental vessels and paintings, both portraits and landscapes, and contain a great deal of previously unpublished information. They represent the fruits of recent cooperation between researchers attached to the Orthodox Church Museum of Finland and the Andrei Rublev Museum in Moscow.
