Snøugla
The Snow Owl is protected in Norway, but the last 10 years they have become increasingly fewer in number. It is hard to get an accurate number of how many there are, as they nest in vast areas and go wherever there is lemmings to catch. Researchers fear that there might be fewer than 30.000 Snow Owls left in the world. The species is threatened by climate change and suffer from the irregular years of lemmings.
Earlier books in this series are: The Polar Fox (Fjellreven), The Walrus (Hvalrossen), The Polar Bear (Isbjørnen) - nominated to The Brage Prize in 2007, Snow, Ice and Climate (Snø, is og klima), The Svalbard Grouse (Svalbardrypa), Arctic Animals (Dyr i Arktis), The Barnacle Goose (Hvitkinngåsa) and Plastic Waste in the Sea (Søppelplasten i havet).
