Snart skolebarn

Starting school is a big deal for most children – and their parents. The transition from being the biggest one in the familiar environment of kindergarten to being a newbie in first year of school, with loads of new stuff to deal with can be difficult for many children. Luckily children in that age group are very open to new knowledge and new experiences.

Almost a Schoolkid – Friendship, Coping and Feelings is based on a pedagogic practice developed by researchers and kindergarten workers to promote social and emotional development and life skills in kindergarten, with a focus on interaction, engagement, enjoying life, coping and recognition.

These are things that the eldest children in kindergarten in particular “practise” and talk about, and which are important in the transition from being a kindergarten child to a school kid. And of course they apply outside kindergarten too.

The book is built around five stories, each with a clear theme. Through these stories, which the children will find relatable, and the accompanying “questions for reflection,” children and adults can talk about important topics – and hopefully prepare themselves for a new everyday life.
