Cox, Gala, Braeburn, Pink Lady. Stride down any produce aisle, and you find a reassuringly familiar offering of apples, from increasingly far-flung places as demand supersedes seasonality. But in a small corner of Essex, lie the fields of a sixteen-acre British apple orchard. As Hana walks the land with Andrew, the orchard's keeper, he introduces her to new varieties like White Transparent, Beauty of Bath, St Edmund's Russet and D'Arcy Spice. As the seasons change, each month brings new knowledge. And Hana comes to see how over his lifetime and the life of the orchard, Andrew has continuously adjusted himself to change.
