This safety guide, published under the IAEA’s Radioactive Waste Safety Standards (RADWASS) programme, defines the process to be used and guidelines to be considered in selecting sites for deep geological disposal of radioactive wastes. It also addresses the social, economic and environmental factors to be considered in site selection. All data needed for the application of the guidelines are also specified.
