Searching for Butternut is a historical fiction saga of a boy's search for his father when the boy's older brother is murdered. The search takes the reader to different War Between the States engagements and encampments, as Zak seeks the whereabouts of his father. Seen through the eyes of Summer, Zak's sister, the story captures the essence of heartbreak and hardships during the time that America was torn in two.
