School of Velocity Op. 299 for Piano

It is impossible to understate Czerny''s importance as a teacher (Ludwig van Beethoven employed him to teach his own nephew) and his many educational works for pianists at all stages are as important today as when they were first produced. The School of Velocity aims to give advancing pianists the dexterity and control required to perform the increasingly virtuosic and decorative music being composed in his own time, the first half of the 19th century. It remains an essential component of any ambitious pianist''s development.

Als Klaviervirtuose und Schüler von namhaften Lehrern wie Beethoven, Clementi und Hummel wusste Carl Czerny, wie man sein Spiel optimal trainiert. Seine Kenntnisse teilt er in 80 Klavierschulen, die unzählige Etüden sammeln. Die wohl bekannteste davon ist die Schule der Geläufigkeit, in der er Schülern in 40 Stücken mittlerer Schwierigkeit musikalisch ansprechend alle nötigen Techniken lehrt.
